Meet Dr. Ghulam Qadir Fayyaz
Dr. Ghulam Qadir Fayyaz is a highly skilled plastic surgeon with specialised expertise and skills in cleft lip and palate surgeries. He is the first surgeon who introduced the concept of integrated treatment of cleft lip and palate patients in Pakistan.

Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz has been working as “Head of Plastic Surgery Department at Services Hospital Professor of Plastic Surgery at Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore”.
Education and Training:
Dr. Fayyaz is a graduate of Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad. He did his training in Plastic Surgery under supervision of (Late) Prof. Kahlid M. Durrani( First Qualified Plastic Surgeon in Pakistan) at Dow Medical College & Civil Hospital, Karachi. He did his Diploma of Specialized Surgery in Plastic Surgery from Vienna University Austria. He got specialised training in cleft lip & palate surgeries from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan and learnt advanced techniques to operate difficult cases (Previously operated) of cleft lip and palate.
Research in Cleft Lip & Palate
Prof. Fayyaz is also doing research project with University of Health Sciences in different aspects of cleft lip and palate patients in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Research Papers
His research papers have been published in national as well as international medical journals. One of his paper on “Model Humanitarian Cleft Mission; 312 Cleft Surgeries in 7 days” Published in March 2015 in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Global Open has won International Collaboration Gold Award, in July 2016.
Continuing Medical Education
Dr. Fayyaz strongly believes in continuing medical education and training to the young Surgeons, Speech Therapists and Cleft Orthodontists.
He has organized seven international Symposium for management of Cleft Lip & Palate in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. World renowned Cleft Surgeons from Taiwan, USA and Pakistan were the Faculty members and trained hundreds of Surgeons of Plastic, Maxillo-Facial and Paediatric Surgery, Orthodontists and Speech Therapists.
Surgeons from Afghanistan have been trained for Cleft surgeries by Dr. Fayyaz in Lahore.
Awareness Seminars about Timely Cleft Surgeries
Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz has also organized cleft awareness seminars on national and international levels to raise awareness about the treatment of cleft lip and palate among the general public.
Awareness is the first step to let the patients to get their status changed from “Disabled to Enabled”
We have organized public seminars to raise general awareness about timely Cleft surgeries among the general public in 2006, 2010 and 2014.These Seminars increase Motivation of Social Workers and provide Education to the General Public.
With effective Communication, we can motivate the families to bring the Cleft Lip & Palate patients for Timely Plastic Surgeries, Naso Alveolar Molding and Speech Therapy, so that they can smile and communicate better and become useful citizens of the society.
Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz as Master Trainer
Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz believes to train new surgeons to meet the growing needs of Expert Surgeons in Cleft Lip & Palate. He has organised seven international symposiums on Management of Cleft Lip & Palate in Punjab Medical College-Allied Hospital, Faisalabad and Services Hospital, Lahore in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. Hundreds of Pakistani surgeons were trained to manage different types of Cleft Lip & Palate patients.
Performed Live Surgeries
He has also performed live surgeries at Lahore, Karachi and Hyderabad to train young surgeons in various aspects of Cleft Lip & Palate patients.
State of the Art Lectures
He has given state of the art lectures in annual meeting of Pakistan Association of Plastic Surgeons and Cleft Symposium.

Dr. Fayyaz is an Internationally renowned Plastic Surgeon with Expertise in Cleft Surgeries, he has been invited by Operation Smile (Virginia,USA based International Cleft Charity) to operate cleft patients in Rwanda, Mexico and Philippines.Results of his surgery are so pleasing that their stories have been circulated on internet to enhance awareness about Cleft Surgeries. Patients operated by Dr. Fayyaz are Smiling, Speaking and living their Lives as Normal persons.
Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz as Philanthropist
Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz is a philanthropist also who take part in welfare activities actively. He is founder of a trust also. Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz and his team performed free of cost surgeries during horrible earthquake on October 08, 2005 at Abbottabad to help hundreds of Earthquake victims. He along with friends provided financial help to the affectees of earthquake.
Dr. G. Q. Fayyaz was also in forefront during the severe floods of 2010 and provided financial help and food packets to the flood affectees
